The Hikvision adapter manages Hikvision IP cameras and NVRs over ISAPI and powers FreeSDN's Video Surveillance module. It covers live MJPEG and snapshot streaming, PTZ control, recording playback, an NVR import wizard, and event ingest including motion, line-crossing, intrusion, and license-plate recognition. It was hardened to the gold standard in May 2026 with 21 audit items closed and 53 new safety tests.

Efficient live streaming
A shared snapshot cache makes one ISAPI fetch per channel serve every viewer, so a busy camera wall does not hammer the device.
NVR import wizard
Point FreeSDN at an NVR and it auto-discovers channels, inheriting per-channel credentials with organization scoping so a multi-tenant deployment stays isolated.
Events and LPR
Motion, line-crossing, intrusion, and license-plate events flow into the surveillance module for search and review, all over local ISAPI with no cloud dependency.
